The Tigers held S.C. State without a field goal for over 10 minutes in the first half to jump out to a commanding 24-point halftime lead.
Clemson, which shot 54 percent for the game, then coasted in the second half for an easy win.
"I thought it was a good game coming out of exams," head coach Oliver Purnell said afterwards. "Once we got our second wind, we kind of locked in defensively in the first half. We were sharp for exam week, and once we got through the first rotation, we settled into the game a little bit."
Jason Flagler scored 17 points to lead the Bulldogs and Wesley Telfare added 13 points.
Terrence Oglesby added 14 points, including four three-three pointers in a five-minute stretch of the first half to help pave the way for an easy Clemson victory.
With the win the Tigers improve to 10-0 on the season while S.C. State falls to 5-4.
The win marked the fourth straight season the Tigers (10-0) won their first 10 games.
Clemson continues its out-of-conference schedule Tuesday against North Florida. Tip-off at Littlejohn Coliseum is set for 7:00 PM.
The Tigers open their 2008-09 conference schedule the following Sunday at Miami.
"If we make some improvements on Tuesday, especially in rebounding, we'll be ready for ACC play," Purnell said. "Illinois helped with that, Charlotte helped with that, now we need to get better on Tuesday."
The Hurricanes and Tigers split two games last season with each team winning on its home court.
