CLEMSON - Head coach Oliver Purnell talks about his team's win over S.C. State Saturday.

OVERALL: I thought it was a good game coming out of exams. Once we got our second wind, we kind of locked in defensively in the first half. We were sharp for exam week, and once we got through the first rotation, we settled into the game a little bit.

ON LITTLE-USED FRESHMEN PLAYING: I thought Narcisse was pretty impressive with his energy today, but we've seen that before. Baciu needs a little work, but he's tall and smart. Both of those guys just need some minutes.

READY FOR CONFERENCE PLAY? If we make some improvements on Tuesday, especially in rebounding, we'll be ready for ACC play. Illinois helped with that, Charlotte helped with that, now we need to get better on Tuesday.

ON K.C. RIVERS: K.C.'s had a really solid year. He didn't shoot the ball well early, but he's given us leadership and toughness all year. Now he's starting to settle in offensively.

BREAKING FROM CLASS THE REST OF THE MONTH: This is a great opportunity to improve as a basketball team. We did a good job of that last year, and we have a chance to do the same thing this year.
