Clemson No. 1 in RPI
Oliver Purnell

Posted Dec 15, 2008

The Clemson men's basketball team has climbed to No. 1 in the Monday calculations for the RPI (Ratings Percentage Index).

This is the first time Clemson has ranked No. 1 since the RPI calculations have been computed on a daily basis.

The RPI formula consists of a team's winning percentage, the average winning percentage of its opponents, and the strength of schedule of a team's opponents.

For the fourth consecutive season, the Tigers have gotten off to a 10-0 start. In 2006-07, Clemson was the nation's last remaining unbeaten at 17-0.

Last season, the Tigers were 10-0 before suffering their first loss to Ole Miss. Clemson went on to earn a No. 5 seed for the NCAA Tournament in 2008.
