Fayette County High School (GA) standout Noel Johnson signed an athletic aid agreement Tuesday morning with the Clemson men’s basketball program.
The addition of Johnson, a consensus top-100 prospect, puts the finishing touch on what was already a top-25 signing class for Head Coach Oliver Purnell.
“We are pleased to be adding Noel to an outstanding recruiting class,” Purnell said. “With the loss of K.C. Rivers and Terrence Oglesby, he helps us fill a need at the wing position. He comes from an outstanding high school program and AAU program. I believe he has tremendous upside.”
Johnson, a 6-6 wing player from Fayetteville, Ga., was first-team All-State as a senior after averaging 21 points, eight rebounds, and four assists per game.
Johnson is ranked as the No. 56 by Scout.com.
Johnson averaged 23.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game as a junior when he led Fayette County to the AAAA championship game. He played his AAU basketball with the Atlanta Celtics.
Three players signed with Clemson in the fall period, led by McDonald’s All-American Milton Jennings. A 6-9 forward from Summerville, Jennings is ranked as high as the nation’s No. 17 prospect by PrepStars. Devin Booker, 6-8 forward from Whitmire, SC and brother of rising senior Trevor Booker, is listed as high as No. 65 by two recruiting services.
Donte Hill, a 6-5 guard from Virginia Beach, VA, is also considered a three-star prospect by Scout.com.
Clemson’s class was ranked No. 23 by Scout.com prior to the addition of Johnson.
