Manning (SC) corner John Fulton has plenty of options when he starts to think about his potential…
4-Star CB visits Clemson for first time
It's hard to believe one of the top prospects in the state of South Carolina for the 2010 recruiting class has never even visited one of the biggest football programs in the state.
But that was exactly the case for Manning corner John Fulton ... until today.
Fulton got the full orange carpet treatment along with one of the top prospects for the class of 2011, teammate DT Phillip Dukes.
"It's been great," Fulton told CUTigers. "This is the first time I've been to Clemson so it's a lot to think about. We got the full tour of the West Endzone and that was good to see."
And if you are wondering why Fulton has never been to Clemson before ... well that's easily explainable.
"My dad is a Gamecocks fan," he said with a laugh. "I've been to South Carolina a bunch of times but today was my first trip to Clemson so it's been good to get up here and see what it's like."
Fulton was able to meet most of the academic support staff in Tigertown while also watching the second part of offseason workouts inside of Death Valley as well.
"They really look after you here when it comes to academics," he said. "That's something that's important. Then getting to watch the guys go through workouts in the stadium- that was cool to watch.
"They were definitely getting after it out there."
Fulton also confirmed other reports indicating a handful of teams from the SEC are his current leaders.
"Right now I've got Alabama No. 1," he said. "Then Georgia No. 2 and then Florida. South Carolina and LSU are up there too."
His teammate, defensive end Dexter Morant, committed to the Bulldogs last night and Fulton said he wasn't too surprised.
"He's been talking about Georgia forever so he just called and told me he was ready to get it over with. It's hard to believe he's going to be a Bulldog but he is," Fulton said.
And what about Tuesday's trip to Clemson? Did it help the Tigers' chances?
"Oh definitely," he said. "I like Coach Rumph and it was good to get up here and see what Clemson is all about. Getting to meet Da'Quan [Bowers] and everybody else on defense was great. I pretty much met everybody at Clemson today.
"It was also good seeing Brandon Ford. We used to go at each other [on the field] so it was good to talk to him."
