Another commitment could be coming Clemson's way this weekend when this Alabama running back arrives…
Paint him orange - Buice makes 16
Gaston HS (AL) running back Demont Buice committed to Clemson today while on an unofficial visit, making him the 16th player to commit to the Tigers for 2010.
"All coaches around the country feed you the same thing," he said. "It's a gut feeling. The Clemson coaches are different."
Coach Charlie Harbison, Buice's main recruiter, has played a big role in picking up 6-2, 220 running back's commitment on Saturday. Weekly conversations with Harbison and Coach Dabo Swinney have gone a long way with Buice.
Buice feels his size and vision will help him translate his skills into a quality college player.
Along with a little bit of natural ability, he studies film to see what he can do to make a five or 10-yard run into a 60-yard touchdown run.
"I look to see if I could get more; try to see if I can break off long runs. Those are the things I look at to make those long runs," he said.
Though he hopes to rush for 1,000 yards in a season, his main goal is to bring a National Championship back to Clemson. Choosing Clemson over Kentucky, Ole Miss and Southern Miss, Buice said he believes Clemson is the best place he can go to win one.
A fan of Clemson throughout his recruitment, Buice encouraged his friend Desmond Brown to check out the Tigers. Brown, a safety out of Cherokee County HS (AL), committed to Clemson in July, much to Buice's surprise.
"I heard he was leaning towards Tennessee and I told him to check out Clemson. He went up there. Visited two more times and committed," Buice said.
Always with one another at Scout.com combines and going to see games together, they'll be joining one another in Tigertown for the next four years.
Having watched C.J. Spiller since his freshman year at Clemson, Buice realizes he's got some large shoes to fill at running back.
"I could see me working to get to that level," he said. "I hope to be that good one day. I'm going to try."
"I feel like they could win an ACC Championship and a National Championship. That's why I like Clemson."
While currently unranked in Scout.com's 2010 database, Buice will be given a three-star designation next week when rankings are due to be updated.
