Monday practice report

Clemson returned to the practice fields Monday night for its first workout since its landmark victory over Miami (FL) on Saturday.

The Tigers defeated the 8th ranked (AP) Hurricanes 40-37 in overtime. It tied for the highest ranked team Clemson has defeated in a road game in school history and was Clemson's first overtime victory since the last time the Tigers faced Miami on the road.

"We had a very good practice tonight," said Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney. "We looked at the film Monday morning and worked on our corrections on the field this evening. But, it is time to move on from that game and get ready for Coastal Carolina. That is our focus."

One of the visitors to the West Endzone at Clemson Memorial Stadium on Monday afternoon was 2009 US Open Champion Lucas Glover. The former Clemson All-American was at the facility to tape a promo with Swinney for the Clemson Golf Gathering a fund-raising event for Clemson's golf program.

"I gave him the grand tour and hopefully in exchange he can help me with my golf game," said Swinney. "Lucas really follows our program closely and it was great to see him."

Glover, who was an All-American at Clemson between 1998-01, will be honored for his US Open championship prior to the Clemson vs. Florida State game on November 7.

"I invited him to run down the hill with us prior to the game and he accepted," said Swinney.

Clemson starting defensive back Chris Chancellor missed Monday's practice to attend the funeral of Jasper Howard, the UCONN football player who lost his life last week. Chancellor was a high school teammate of Howard and he remained in Miami after the game on Saturday to attend the visitation on Sunday, and the funeral on Monday. He was to return Monday night.

Clemson starting tight end Michael Palmer was held out of practice on Monday as he recovers from the concussion he suffered during the game on Saturday. Palmer had five receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown at Miami. It was his career high in reception yardage. His status for Saturday's game with Coastal Carolina is questionable at this point.
