Monday practice report
Michael Palmer

Posted Nov 2, 2009

Clemson returned to the practice field on Monday night for its normal 90 minute practice that centered on corrections.

The practice finished with a conditioning run.

The Tigers, who have won three in a row, face Florida State on Saturday night in ESPN’s Primetime game. Kickoff is at 7:45 PM and the network’s crew of Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge and Erin Andrews will be on hand to broadcast the game.

There are still tickets remaining, but it promises to be a great atmosphere. It will be Clemson’s first televised home night game since the 2007 season.

While the atmosphere will be electric, Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney stressed fundamentals to his team after practice.

“Both teams are going to be very excited on Saturday night,” said Swinney. “The atmosphere will be terrific. But the most important thing will be execution with poise. The most excited team doesn’t win. The team with 11 guys who execute the best will win.”

Swinney told his team this is the home stretch of the season and his team has an opportunity to be special.

“You always talk about having a November to remember. Every day this month will be critical. We are a 5-3 football team, but we have an opportunity to have a special season.

“It is not easy to win a championship. It takes commitment, toughness and perseverance. Only one team wins the championship.”

Clemson defensive end Da'Quan Bowers did not participate in practice and is not expected to play against Florida State due to a sprained knee.

Tight end Michael Palmer was back at practice after sitting out last week’s game with Coastal Carolina due to a concussion suffered at Miami. He is expected to be back for the Florida State game.
