Reserve center Karolis Petrukonis will earn his undergraduate degree Thursday and seek professional opportunities closer to his native country of Lithuania.

Petrukonis will not travel with the men’s basketball team to East Carolina on Wednesday, but will attend commencement ceremonies Thursday to receive his degree in economics. The entire team will also attend graduation.

Petrukonis, the 11th men’s basketball player to graduate under the watch of Head Coach Oliver Purnell, appeared in 33 career games during his time with the Tiger program.

“I can’t say enough good things about Karolis,” said Head Coach Oliver Purnell. “He’s worked extremely hard on the court and in the classroom, and he’s graduating in three and a half years. We wish him well in his pursuit of professional basketball opportunities closer to home.”
