CUTigers.com checks in with Ethan Farmer who was on hand this weekend for an official visit.
THE LATEST: Ethan Farmer
This jumbo-athlete prospect from North Carolina has Clemson ranked second among his top three favorites.
And he'll be in Tigertown next weekend on an official visit.
A weekend after Clemson hosts its biggest official visit weekend for the class of 2010, Ethan Famer will be one of a few prospects in Tigertown Jan. 15-17. That following weekend, he's scheduled to visit his childhood favorite--North Carolina.
Farmer is taking the SAT on Jan. 23, which could push back his visit to North Carolina State to the next weekend.
"I just want to visit each school, get to know the coaches, see who has the best facilities, see the academic support program--basic things like that," he said.
When he talked to CUTigers on Thursday, Farmer said his favorites are: North Carolina, Clemson and North Carolina State, in order.
North Carolina offensive line coach Sam Pittman stopped by Tabor City, N.C. to see Farmer for an in-home visit. Clemson defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks is scheduled to be through this week. Farmer said Brooks last stopped by the week before he was in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
What position he plays is still up in the air. At the Shrine Bowl, Farmer lined up at tight end. On the field at South Columbus, he played by defensive line and tight end. On defense, he registered 80 tackles and eight sacks. On offense, he had six catches for 115 yards.
When Farmer announces his decision remains the same as its been since he first spoke to CUTigers.
"I'm still going to announce on signing day," he said.
Several factors will play into that decision.
"Academic support, what's best for me and my family, third is where I want to spend my four or five years at in college--where I can get a good degree from," Farmer said.
He's in the middle of basketball season at South Columbus High School, averaging 12 points per game.
Scout.com lists him as a three-star prospect and the No. 59 defensive tackle prospect in the country for the class of 2010.
