Here are junior season highlights of Central (S.C.) D.W. Daniel defensive tackle and Clemson…
First 2011 commit talks Saturday visit
DT DeShaun Williams Profile Along with DeShaun Williams, Shaq Anthony and Brandon Ellerbe were also in town Saturday representing the 2011 Clemson commits. CUTigers recently caught up with Williams to get his take on the day's events that concluded with the basketball game against Duke. Williams spent a lot of time with two of the biggest names, Dorman wide receiver Charone Peake and South Pointe defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. A local defensive tackle from nearby Daniel High School, Williams became the first committed member of the class last June. Having watched plenty of Clemson football over the years, Williams said Clowney reminds him of a recent standout defensive end. "If you put that jersey on him, No. 7, he reminds me so much of Ricky Sapp," Williams said. "I talked to Dabo (Swinney) about him, he said he was more physical…I think it'd be real good if he commits to Clemson." Despite the basketball team's loss, he thinks that a good impression was made on the uncommitted prospects. Williams said environment reminded him of Death Valley. "What they see in that, they see the fans will be behind them, no matter what. Clemson is a good atmosphere in any sport they play in," Williams said. "The fans are going to back them up." Like with any prospects' visit, the academic aspects of Clemson were shared too. "They talked to us about the academics and how you'll never find another place like Clemson," Williams said. Tight end Dwayne Allen made an appearance before the group of largely uncommitted prospects. "He said it was like a second-home to him. I think what they said will probably bring them closer to Clemson," Williams said.
