An offer from Clemson could be on the way during the spring evaluation period to this 2011 Florida jumbo athlete. A visit is also on the horizon.

TE/OLB Ramik Wilson Profile

Clemson defensive end coach Chris Rumph stopped by Jefferson High School earlier this winter to check out another prospect when he saw Ramik Wilson on film.

The two have been in touch frequently since.

"I've been calling a lot and we've been talking a lot—coach (Billy) Napier and coach Rumph. We've been talking," Wilson said. "They're recruiting me for tight end but they do like me for linebacker. They were asking me which one I feel more comfortable.

"I was straight up, I told them I was straight with linebacker."

As a junior, Wilson caught 19 passes for 293 yards and a touchdown and had 82 tackles and 9 sacks.

Clemson is the only school that's recruiting him to play tight end. An offer from the Tigers could be appears to be extended in the near future.

"They want to see if I'm a legit 6'2. As soon as they see me in person, they're going to offer me," Wilson said. "They've seen my highlight tape. They said if I'm a legit 6'2 or taller, they're going to offer me."

He and Rumph are talking about a trip up this summer. If not that soon, then likely during the fall.

"I probably might go to one of their camps. Maybe around like week five or week six, for one of their home games, I'll check them out," Wilson said.

Iowa State, Purdue, Texas Tech, Illinois, UCF, Memphis and East Carolina are among his offers.

Right now, his favorite three are Texas Tech, Purdue and Iowa State. CUTigers asked, would an offer from Clemson would place the Tigers in good position too?

"Definitely--oh yeah."

Wilson's decision could be made sometime during the summer or just before the start of the season.
