Lucas Glover finished in 11th place to lead four former
Clemson golfers at the Travelers Championship at the TPC at River
Highlands in Cromwell, CT. D.J. Trahan, Kyle Stanley and Charles Warren
also all made the cut at the event.
Glover, playing the week after he won the United States Open, had three
rounds of 65 and a 71 for his four rounds and finished with a 266 score
for the event, good enough for 11th place. The native of Greenville, SC
won $138,000 and is now eighth on the PGA Tour money list with over $2.7
million.
Trahan had a final round 65 and finished with a 267 score, good enough
for a tie for 14th. He won $105,000 and improved from 70th to 62nd on
the money list with the performance.
Stanley had a 66 in the final round and finished with a score of 269,
good enough for 19th place. It was the first PGA Tour event for Stanley
as a professional and he won $75,300. Stanley's number 19 finish was
the best ever for a former Clemson golfer in his first PGA Tour event as
a professional, and his $75,300 was the most money won by a former
Clemson golfer in his first Tour event as a pro. The previous best
finish by a former Tiger in his debut tournament was a 36th place finish
by Stephen Poole as last year's PGA event in Greensboro, and Jonathan
Byrd's 36th place finish at a tournament in Virginia in 2000.
"I was very impressed with Kyle Stanley when I played with him last week
at the US Open," said Glover. "He has a bright future and is going to
win a pile of money on this tour."
Charles Warren also made the cut and finished in 51st place with a 275
score.
This was the first tournament this year in which four former Clemson
golfers made the cut.
