Charles Bennett is a reserve middle linebacker that moved over from defensive end during his first two years with the Tigers...listed as a backup “Mike” linebacker behind Leroy Hill entering the fall...adapted to his new position well in the spring, as he had three first hits in the Spring Game at Riggs Field...red-shirted the 2001 season at Clemson.

Ranked as one of the top 16 defensive ends in the nation by USAToday.com, he was considered an All-American by that service and one of the top 125 players in the nation regardless of position...ranked as 31st best defensive end in the nation by Rivals100.com...a three-star player by that internet site...ranked as the #3 player in South Carolina by SuperPrep...ranked as the #8 player in South Carolina by Mickey Plyler...had 89 tackles, 15 quarterback pressures,14 sacks, and 22 tackles for loss in his outstanding senior year...missed two games with an ankle injury, or he would have been over 100 tackles for the season. |
