Even though Justin Miller is just a sophomore, he is a strong All-America candidate for 2003...preseason first-team All-American according to The Sporting News...ranked as the #2 cornerback in the nation by that publication...named to preseason watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Award (top defensive player in the nation) and the Jim Thorpe Award (top defensive back)...one of only two sophomores nationally on the Thorpe Award list...preseason first-team All-ACC by Lindy’s, The Sporting News, Athlon, and Street & Smith...ranked as the best cover corner in the ACC by Lindy’s...first-team preseason All-American by CollegeFootballNews.com...in addition to abilities as a corner, also a big plus when it comes to the return game...led the ACC in interceptions and kickoff-return average as a freshman, quite a combination...first ACC player since Keeta Covington of Maryland (1985) to lead the ACC in kickoff returns and interceptions in the same seson...his 35.1 average on kickoff returns was third best in ACC history...his eight interceptions were the most by an ACC player since 1996 when Tar Heel Dré Bly had 11.
