Stephen Furr earned his first letter after walking on to the Tiger football team in 2002...handled the kickoff duties for most of the year...also could challenge for vacant punting job in 2003...handled kickoff duties in all 13 games in his first year...had eight touchbacks in 57 kickoffs, while only booting one kick out of bounds the entire year...contributed to kick coverage with four tackles...fine all-around student who had a GPA over 3.3 last year when he made the ACC Academic honor roll...his ESPN Highlight play last year took place at Florida State when he successfully executed an on-side kick that led to a Clemson score.
High School
Earned honorable mention all-county honors after playing just one year of high school football...as a senior, he made 3 of 5 field goals with a long of 47 yards...he also punted 39 times, and had a gross average of 41.4 yards...in addition to his letter in football, he also lettered three times in soccer...all-state soccer selection his senior year. |
