College
Clemson’s third leading scorer in 2001-02 with 11.6 average, but he was second among sophomores in the ACC…ranked sixth in Clemson history in career field goal percentage entering his junior year with a .550 figure….improved his scoring average by 57 percent over his freshman year with his 11.6 scoring mean in 2001-02…ranked fourth among returning ACC players in scoring average for the 2002-03 season…also fifth among returning rebounders with a 6.1 average…has started 46 of his 60 games as a Tiger, he has missed just one game in two years…has started 32 straight games and 45 of his last 46 games…over half way to 1000 points through two years, he has 569 entering his junior season…has 27 double figure scoring games, including 17 as a sophomore…ranked as 18th best power forward in the nation by Lindy’s Preseason Magazine for 2002-03…also a preseason second-team All-ACC choice by that publication and a third-team choice by ACC Basketball Handbook…named to ACC All-Freshman team in 2000-01 when he led all conference freshmen in rebounding with 6.3 average… has nine career double-doubles, six as a freshman and three as a sophomore.
High School
One of the top players in North Carolina as a junior, he suffered a torn ACL in July of 1999 in a summer league game in Charlotte and played just two games his final season...played in just the second and third rounds of the state tournament as a senior...scored 23 points and had 17 rebounds in the two games combined...scored school record 1247 points in his three years plus two games on the varsity...played in Bob Gibbons All-Star game in the summer of 2000...helped coach the East Chapel Hill High junior varsity team during his senior year when he was injured...averaged 20.1 points and 11.8 rebounds per game as a junior in 1998-99...had a high game of 38 points and 18 rebounds during a regular season tournament contest...ranked as 42nd best player in the nation by Prep Stars entering his senior season...also a top 100 player by Recruiters Handbook and Hoop Scoop...was ranked as the number-eight junior in the country by Bob Gibbons All-Star Publication...ranked among the top 30 players in the nation prior to the injury...team advanced to state tournament and had an 18-8 record...Triad 3A Conference Player-of-the-Year...Hobbs was first-team all-state selection as a junior. |
